Office for Sponsored Programs and Research Activities

Welcome to the Office for Sponsored Programs and Research Activities (OSPRA) website. The OSPRA is a unit within the Office of Academic Affairs created to support research and other scholarly activities of faculty, students and staff. The mission of OSPRA is to facilitate the procurement of external support through research grants, contracts and technical assistance agreements, to administer internal support for research and to document and publicize the scholarly achievements of members of the Detroit Mercy community.

The OSPRA website contains important information concerning opportunities for funding, useful information for applying for funding and policies and procedures that support research and grant activity at Detroit Mercy.

Specifically, OSPRA assists Detroit Mercy faculty with:

  • Funding searches
  • Application preparation and submission
  • Budget review/approval (in coordination with the budget office)
  • Sponsored programs administration and compliance

If you would like to submit a grant, please notify the OSPRA. Please see the Internal Processes page for more detailed information about working with the OSPRA to submit your grant.

You are invited to contact OSPRA to talk about your research and grant ideas. The OSPRA office is located on the second floor of the Student Union on the McNichols Campus. Contact Ann Serra, Director of OSPRA, at 313-993-1469, by email at serraam@udmercy.edu or by fax at 313-993-1534.
