Certificate in Clinical Nurse Leader
Description
The post-master's Certificate in Clinical Nurse Leader option is available to applicants that have already earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited program. This certificate program does not lead to an academic degree from Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ.
The graduate of the post-master's Certificate in Clinical Nurse Leader requires 19 credit hours of coursework including 400-500 hours that includes a clinical immersion experience as a CNL. The program is taught in an engaging online format that is flexible and student-centered. Students need not be a resident of Michigan to enroll in the program. Clinical sites and qualified preceptors are identified near the student’s home to complete the required CNL clinical immersion experience. Graduates of the CNL post-master's certificate program are eligible to sit for the Clinical Nurse Leader certification exam offered by the AACN Commission on Nurse Certification (CNC).-

Admission Criteria

- A master’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program.
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
- A minimum of 2000 hours of experience as a registered nurse.
- A current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan or in the state of home residence.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- One letter of professional recommendation.
- An autobiographical statement of personal goals and objectives.
- Current resume or professional CV.
- An interview with graduate faculty.
An applicant’s transcripts from prior academic institutions will be reviewed by the Clinical Nurse Leader program coordinator/ advisor to determine an applicant’s specific program of study. Additional coursework may be required if advanced pathophysiology, assessment, and pharmacology have not been taken.
